Lynda Begnaud introduced Michael Lange who is running for Texas Comptroller. Michael is visiting all 254 Texas counties. Ellis County is his 57th so far. Michael talked about his background and gave a fascinating story about his Father, who was a German immigrant. Michael has extensive experience in the corporate financial and insurance area. He is retired and is running for Comptroller because he believes that it should be independently run and not controlled by Greg Abbott. He believes that 1) Everyone should be treated with respect; 2) We should be kind to others; 3) Our job is to give back.
Michael discussed the great importance of the Comptroller role. It is responsible for all of the Texas taxpayer money taken in and given out. The Comptroller tells the government how much money they have and how much they can spend. Texas has the 8th largest economy in the world. It handles over $2.7 Trillion. Every week, 10,000 people are coming to Texas. He said the Financial world is coming to Texas. Texas needs a Comptroller who knows how to manage money and will remain independent of political pressures. He gave several examples where the current Comptroller is not acting independently but rather has been mismanaging taxpayer funds by giving our money to special interest groups and organizations with ties to Abbott.
