Minutes of Texas Democratic Women of Ellis County By zoom at 4 pm on Saturday 8/21/21

We began by hearing Kevin Crouch express his appreciation for our “Baby Shower” in support of Hope Clinic. He told of the importance to young mothers of the items donated for their babies and children.
Next, we heard again the video of Briana Brice describing her emulation of a woman nurse of the 19th century.
Then we opened the meeting with the pledge of allegiance.
Helen Brock, read the minutes from the meeting of July 17, 2021, which had been prepared by Tina Williams. No corrections were made.
Lynda Begnaud read the treasurer’s report. She explained that she would delay giving the amount left over from last year’s mail-out campaign until Kelly Blackburn thinks the time is right.
Old Business:
Baby Shower for Hope Clinic from 2:30 – 4:30pm Sunday 8/22/21
September- African American Hall of Fame and Museum Cookout: It was acknowledged that some were of the opinion we should not go ahead with it. But as it is outside and requires a small number of workers we decided to continue with it.
Plans for the on-line auction and February photo contest continue. The fall tea will now be a spring tea. The open house and wine tasting will be discussed closer to Dec. and Jan.
Vivian Gibson reported that the Scholarship committee has decided to give out scholarships to students from Ferris HS. She asked us the members of TDWEC to give guidance about how much the scholarship amount should be. Lynda Begnaud made a motion which was seconded by Barbara Fudge to give the building fund to the scholarship fund. All were in favor.
Patricia Page spoke of the Outreach committee and with help from the treasurer it was reported that in 2021 we have given $2125 to North Ellis County Outreach, the American Red Cross (for young immigrants held in Dallas) and Hope Clinic.
New Business:
