Minutes of Texas Democratic Women of Ellis County at 6pm on 1/17/2023
President Mary Lou Shipley called the meeting to order.
Attendants were Lynda & Jerome Begnaud, Helen Brock, Mary Brooks, Becky Cockerham, Waynetta Dennis Ferrell, Barbara Fudge, Vivian Gibson, Daphne Hajovsky, Donna Hugley, Julie Mendenhall, Nancy Post, Mary Lou Shipley, Susan Simmons, Emma Wilson, Jean Woods and Carol Young.
The pledge of allegiance was shared.
Emma Wilson led the installation of officers as follows: President- Mary Lou Shipley, V. P. – Nancy Post, Secretary- Helen Brock and Treasurer – Mary Brooks.
The minutes were provided in paper copy and were also shared by an e-mail to members. Mary Brooks made a motion to accept the minutes as printed and the motion was accepted my Becky Cockerham.
The treasurer’s report was provided in an email to members and Lynda Begnaud summarized it. As of 1/17/2023, the bank balance in the PAC account is $1,248.08, the operating fund has $1,023.08, the Candidate Fund has $225 and the balance in the scholarship account is $2,600.69.
Vivian Gibson, the chair of the Scholarship Committee reported on the activity of the Scholarship committee since 2017 forward. For more information related to scholarship recipients, please visit elliscounty.tdw.org
Mary Lou Shipley reported on the results of an executive committee meeting held the previous Friday on 1/13/23. There was general discussion of the purposes of existing and newly proposed committees which are as follows: Social & Refreshments, Fundraising, Outreach, Membership and Scholarship Committees.
Mary Lou Shipley adjourned the meeting with the encouragement for all to remain and partake of light refreshments and sign up for service on the various committees.
The next meeting will be at 6pm on Tuesday 2/21/2023 in person at Democratic HQ.
