Minutes of Texas Democratic Women of Ellis County at 6pm on 3/21/2023
President Mary Lou Shipley called the meeting to order at 6:02 pm.
Attendants were Linda Baker, Kelly Blackburn, Helen Brock, Kathleen Bowen, Mary Brooks, Becky Cockerham, Vivian Gibson, Janae Hawkins, Mike Hawkins, David Hill, Mickie Hill, Nancy Post, Mary Lou Shipley, Jean Woods and Carol Young.
The pledge of allegiance was shared.
Helen Brock read the minutes of the meeting held on 2/21/23. They were accepted as read.
The treasurer’s report was provided in an email to members and Mary Brooks summarized it. As of 3/21/2023, the bank balance in the PAC account is $1,147.42. The balance in the scholarship account is $2,600.69.
Kathleen Bowen began to report on the comprehensive plan of the city of Waxahachie. David Hill continued the discussion. He emphasized its focus is to examine land use. He mentioned there is a plan to have a loop circle the city. Many questions were asked from the floor and we enjoyed a lively discussion.
There were no committee reports.
Kelly Blackburn invited everyone to her house on April 15 about the role of dark money.
Rebecca Cockerham has volunteered to provide refreshments.
Nancy Post brought letters to mail-out and asked volunteers to stay and work on the project.
Kathleen Bowen moved that the meeting be adjourned at 7:30 pm.
The next meeting will be at 6 pm on Tuesday 4/18/2023 in person at Democratic HQ.
